On November 7, the Student Veterans Resource Center (SVRC) welcomed more than 200 students and guests to the Tate Student Grand Hall for the SVRC’s annual Veterans Week Scholarship Ceremony. The SVRC and its supporters awarded more than 165 scholarships with a combined value of $155,310 to UGA student veterans.
University of Georgia student veterans gathered Monday, November 6, to place 700 American flags at the UGA Memorial Garden to represent the 700,000+ veterans living in the state of Georgia.

One would not immediately suspect that Caitlyn Davis actively serves in the Army Reserves and UGA ROTC program. She admits that she may blend in as a typical college student. During the week, the nutritional sciences major attends classes, but one weekend per month she serves as a medic.
Dr. Jon Segars, University of Georgia’s Director of the Student Veterans Resource Center (SVRC) was named chair-elect for the National Council on Military Transition to Education (CMTE) in June 2022 to serve on its executive committee for this academic year. At the upcoming CMTE conference this March, Segars will assume the chairmanship to serve a one-year term.

On November 8, 2022, the Student Veterans Resource Center (SVRC) hosted its annual Veterans Week Scholarship Ceremony sponsored in part by the Reynolds Veterans Association. Over 100 scholarships were awarded to UGA student veterans with a combined value of $88,000— the most scholarships on record to be awarded at SVRC’s annual ceremony thanks to the generosity of both individual and corporate donors.
