Campus, corporate, and community partners all play an essential role in helping our student veterans succeed at UGA. Our Got Your Six™ awareness classes – presented by the UGA Student Veterans Resource Center – provide individuals with an understanding of the:

  • UGA student veteran population
  • The challenges veterans may face while attending a Tier-1 Research University
  • UGA and SVRC-facilitated programs and services in place to mitigate those challenges

Designed to help foster a supportive community for our military-affiliated students, the Got Your Six™ class is also an elective offered within a number of UGA Certificate Programs open to faculty and staff. During each session, participants will learn about:

  • National challenges facing student veterans
  • The student veteran journey to and through higher education (HE)
  • UGA-specific student veteran demographics (i.e age, status, degree)
  • Potential issues facing undergraduate and graduate student veterans
  • Resources available to student veterans throughout their journey at UGA.
  • Ways partner organizations can help improve the student veteran experience at UGA
  • An understanding of how the SVRC supports student veterans through its unique programming:
