UGA Student Veteran Receives National Leadership Recognition
Caleb Ray, a Financial Planning 4th-year UGA student veteran and last year’s Student Veteran Association (SVA) President was recognized this week in G.I. Jobs magazine as a recipient of the Student Veteran Leadership Award. Ray was one of thirty-three nationally recognized students for his outstanding leadership and commitment to serving the UGA veteran community.
An Air Force veteran, a member of the UGA Student Veteran Resource Center (SVRC) staff, and an active member in the SVA, Ray has been a catalyst for other student veterans’ success. During his first semester at UGA, he led both the SVRC and SVA team out of the remote learning COVID protocols and back to in-person engagement, while assisting with the transition of SVRC directors. In a period of internal change, he provided steadfast leadership.
Among some of Ray’s other accomplishments include completing the SVRC Readiness Program, being selected as a Protégé with American Corporate Partners, serving as a merchandising intern with Home Depot, and other awards such as:
- The UGA Student Veterans Resource Center Excellence Award
- The Horton-Devore Leadership Award
- The Fiserv Student Veteran Award
- The Franklin Student Veteran Award
- The Reynolds Veterans’ Association Leadership Award
- Blue Key National Honor Society
